Arithmetic, Population and Energy

I was convinced about peak oil by several researchers, but not least of all Dr Albert Bartlett, with his now famous You Tube video, on doubling time:

I highly recommend you watch all 8 parts, and try to wrap your head around it, as I did. It also perfectly explains compound interest, which explains the global debt problem too. In fact, it explains 'peak everything'. Maths has the answers.

Here, he gives a similar interview, but explains it in simple terms which should have everyone sitting up and taking note, as the title should shock us all:

Arithmetic, Population and Energy -- a talk by Dr. Albert Bartlett on the impossibility of exponential growth on a finite planet:

It is necessary here to understand the word 'impossibility'.
